A Story of Impact Through Publishing

Spreading the Word. Reaching the World.

Towards the end of last year, CLC Kenya hosted its annual African Christian Authors Book Awards (ACABA) in Kampala, Uganda—an initiative that celebrates and promotes Christian authorship across the continent . It was an important moment in the life of the publishing ministry, bringing together writers, leaders, and partners from across Africa.

For one couple, it became something more.

An Unexpected Invitation

Grace and I were encouraged by CLC Kenya Director Muthoni Omukhango to attend the awards ceremony. We agreed—somewhat reluctantly—without knowing what God had in store.

During the event, we were surprised to learn that our book, Marriage, Thistles and Flowers, had been selected for translation into Spanish and Italian. It was an unexpected and humbling moment—one we could not have anticipated.

A Further Surprise

The story did not end there.

At a later RECONNECT Marriage Conference and retreat, Muthoni quietly appeared and handed us a copy of the Spanish edition. Seeing the book in another language, prepared for a completely different audience, was both moving and deeply encouraging.

It was a tangible reminder that what God begins in one place, He can carry far beyond it.

Reaching New Nations

The Spanish edition, titled Rosa y Espinas, is now being shared across Latin America. It will be available in Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela—reaching readers we may never meet, in a language we do not speak.

At a recent CLC Latin America Conference in Panama City, the book was presented and celebrated as part of the wider publishing work across the region.

This is the power of a global publishing ministry. A message written in one context can be translated, carried, and received in another—crossing borders, cultures, and languages to reach new hearts.

A Wider Story

This is not just our story. It is part of a much bigger one.

Through CLC’s publishing work, authors are being equipped, voices are being amplified, and resources are being made available to the global Church. Books are travelling further than their authors ever could—speaking into lives, strengthening relationships, and pointing people to Christ.

Giving Glory to God

We are deeply grateful—to CLC, to the teams who have invested in this process, and above all to God, who continues to use the written word to reach people across the world.

What began as a local message is now part of a global story.
